The Hawk Eye

Samantha Gitlin
I could not let go. My mom probably wanted me to stop holding onto her leg but I refused. All the other kids were confident going into the first day of first grade, but not me. They all looked at me with confusion as to why I was so scared about the first day of school. I agree that I was being dramatic, but they didn’t understand that this was a foreign land to me. I had just moved from Connecticut and this new land of California was as intimidating as all of these bewildered first grade faces staring at me. I finally realized that the only thing holding me back was the fact that I was holding on. Finally, I just let go.
