For the most part, it seems twenty-six-year-old Dominic Solanke is ready and excited to play for the Tottenham Hotspurs, a pretty good-sized club. Solanke transferred from AFC Bournemouth on an 83 million dollar, six-year contract. Solanke expressed excitement for this club and their ambitious plans for him. Speaking to @spursofficial on X, Solanke said, “To sign for a club like Tottenham is everything I’ve wanted.”
During week one we got to see Solanke’s debut game with Tottenham versus Leicester City. According to FotMob, the ending score was 1-1 with the first goal being scored by Tottenham player Pedro Porro in the 29th minute. The second goal was scored in the second half in the 57th minute by Jamie Vardy, tying the game. Unfortunately, as a result Solanke received an ankle injury and will not be able to play for the following game against Everton.
Tottenham’s current season did not start off strong–their first game ended with a tie against Leicester, but they won their second game 4-0 against Everton. The third game they played New Castle and lost 2-1. During the 4th week they played in The North London Derby against their biggest rival, Arsenal. Tottenham dominated possession, but they could never score. Arsenal player Gabriel Magalhães took advantage and broke through the defense on a corner kick, scoring with a header, ending the game with a score of 1-0 Arsenal. After the game Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, explained on ESPN online why the club struggled against Arsenal. Postecoglou said, “We held them [Arsenal] well for the most part, but switched off for one and paid a price. They’re obviously a very big threat from set-pieces and it only takes one.” Tottenham will learn from their mistakes and prepare themselves for their next game.
