Taylor Swift is known for her exciting, and astounding performances, along with the outfits she wears during them that have become large parts of her fanbase today. After Swift performs her Fearless era, she comes back on stage for her Red era. Welcomed to the stage with a rock-paper-scissors battle and a singing trunk, she joins her dancers back on stage in one of her loose sparkly shirts, loafers, sparkly shorts, and her traditional fedora. Each shirt has a different phrase on it, some words being highlighted in red gems while the rest are in black. Each outfit is fun and fitting for the set.
Playing on Swift’s “22” music video, she wears a shirt designed by Ashish that says “WHO’S TAYLOR SWIFT ANYWAYS? EW.” Each word is stacked and starts evenly on the left. The beginning of the saying, “WHO’S TAYLOR SWIFT ANYWAYS?” is written in bold, uppercase letters designed with black gems. At the end, the word, “EW” is still written in bold, uppercase letters but is instead designed with red gems. The rest of the shirt has a general t-shirt design with two sleeves, and fits loosely, slightly bunching above Swift’s hips.

With the same designer as the “EW” shirt, the next shirt has the same design but a different saying. Stating, “I KNEW U WERE TROUBLE” the words are again stacked and start evenly from the left. The beginning of the saying, “I KNEW U WERE” is in uppercase, bold letters and are written in black gems. At the end, the word, “TROUBLE” is also in bold uppercase letters, but is written in red gems instead of black.

Nearly identical to the other Ashish shirts, the next top is only different in what it says. The shirt has one of Swift’s song titles on it, saying “I BET YOU THINK ABOUT ME”. The entirety of the shirt is covered in white gems except for the lettering. The beginning of the saying, “I BET YOU THINK ABOUT” is covered in black gems and written in bold, uppercase lettering. Written in the same font but a different color, the end of the saying, “ME” is written in red gems.

Yet another design by Ashish for Swift is the “NEVER” shirt that says “WE ARE NEVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER. LIKE EVER.” The shirt has the same design as each other shirt so far, only a different phrase to change it. While most of the writing on the shirt is black and covered in black gems, the words “NEVER” and “EVER” are different. The two words are written in the same font but covered in red gems, making them stand out from the rest of the writing.
Swift’s next shirt is another Ashish design, with the same cut and colors, only different by what is written on it. Like the other tops, the entirety of the shirt is covered in white gems, aside from the lettering. The shirt says “A LOT GOING ON AT THE MOMENT” The words “GOING ON AT THE MOMENT” are written in black lettering and covered in black gems, still in the same font as the other shirts. At the top of the shirt, the words “A LOT” are written in red with red gems.

The final shirt designed by Ashish for Swift is also the same as the rest with different writing. The shirt has the saying “THIS IS NOT TAYLOR’S VERSION.” As Swifties worldwide know, it’s only okay to stream Taylor’s Version, which is the music owned by Taylor herself instead of a record label. The saying is iconic and humorous. Although the majority of the writing is in black gems, the words “IS NOT” are written in red gems to pop out compared to the rest.
The final song of the Red set is Swift’s hit song All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault). With its long title, many Swifties joke over the abbreviation but sing to the emotion in the song. As Swift changes out of her fun and loose t-shirts, she puts on a more formal coat. The coat is floor length with long sleeves and an open front. Starting at the top, the coat is covered in red, shimmering gems. As the coat continues down, it begins to go into an ombre that changes from red gems to black. The red gems fully change to black right about Swift’s knee height. The extravagant floor length, shimmering coat is a statement piece on stage.
Each outfit worn by Swift throughout the concert supports her setlist and adds to the vision on stage. The color scheme and designs of her outfits in the Red Era add details to her performance and give the set more of a fun, loose mood. From T-shirts to floor length coats, Swift carefully plans her outfits to fit her songs and ultimately give the audience a fun-filled and eye-catching performance.
