Latin Varsity Soccer has had a few huge wins recently, defeating Cannon 3-2 with late heroics from Ethan Worrell and Henry Alt, as well a fantastic win over Providence Day in the final regular season game, unplugging the Chargers 4-2 on penalties. Latin ended the regular season with a conference record of 6-4 and an overall record of 15-6. With the win to close the regular season, the Hawks managed to finish tied for 2nd in the conference standings, and received a home game as the #8 seed. Facing the Chargers once again, they got the win 2-0 in the opening round of the playoffs, with goals from Connor Gannett and Jack Lilly being the difference. When discussing the season, sophomore midfielder Michael Ferro believed that “The positivity inside the team and our strive to succeed has led us to have a successful year so far”, further encompassing the strong togetherness within the team. The Hawks will now look to make a deep run in the playoffs this week, as they take on Covenant Day on the road and attempt to reach the state semi finals for the first time in 7 years.
