One of my favorite movies of all time is the 1984 coming of age film, “16 Candles”, starring Molly Ringwald. I decided it was definitely one of my favorites when my mom told me it was one of hers. Not very original, but it’s fine. In fact, my mother’s love for “16 Candles” ran so deep that if I was a boy, she had full intention of naming me Jake-Ryan after the lead male character in the movie. Another thing that I particularly enjoy besides movies is Billy Joel. “Piano Man,” “Uptown Girl” and “Vienna” are definitely the common favorites, but I like them all. Any song. Any album. In fact, my car is named Brenda, after the couple in “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant.” My parents and I don’t have much in common, but Billy Joel and classic movies are something we can always come together on.
