Everyone has their own style, but within that style they prefer similar clothing items, colors and looks. Some of the current trends around campus so far this year are Gold Hinge skirts, Lululemon tennis skirts, Alo skirts, Rock N Rags skirts, Free People shorts, Olivaceous dresses, Adidas Samba and Golden Goose and Stanley cups. Upper School girls enjoyed sharing their thoughts and opinions on these trends.
Many girls favor the lululemon tennis skirts due to their color and pattern options, along with a high comfort level and built-in shorts to fit the dress code. Annie Hitzemann ‘27 repeatedly wears these on dress down days. “They are comfortable, I feel confident in them and I would prefer this brand over others,” Hitzemann said. In addition, Anna Grace Farhney ‘27 also sports her red lululemon tennis skirt because of its versatility and comfort. “They are breathable and good for any occasion,” Farhney said. Lululemon tennis skirts are popular among students because of their comfort and how practical they are. Similar to lululemon skirts, Gold Hinge skirts are also a common clothing item. In addition, Gold Hinge skirts are more affordable, which make them a common choice for a nice outfit; they feature pleats and have a unique style that appeals to students. Lastly, on a dress down day Alo skirts, with their simple yet comfortable design (similar to the Lululemon tennis skirt and Gold Hinge skirt), are very popular. Hannah Rankin ‘28 loves wearing her Gold Hinge skirts. “They are comfortable, versatile, and very stylish.” Rankin said.
If you are looking for a balance in athletic yet stylish attire, Free People shorts would be a great choice for their cute looks, patterns and comfort. Free People shorts have many different color and print options. Emma Mackie ‘27 always wears her shorts mainly because she can count on the many ways they fit her style requirements. “Free People shorts are very comfortable, flowy, stylish, and are convenient because they have pockets,” Mackie said
Many students notice their friends’ accessories first because of the pop and attention to detail they contain that draws someone’s eye. Here at Latin, water bottles are considered a very common accessory, and many students use not them not only to stay hydrated but also follow the trends and complement their outfits. The Stanley cup blew up last year and has been popular ever since. There are a wide variety of colors and styles for these water bottles. More recently, Owala water bottles have started to make their way into Charlotte Latin.
Since everyday isn’t a dress down day, some of the most popular brands and items students wear at Latin might include a Rock N Rags skirt or Olivaceous dress; they love the nice colors, formal yet dress-code appropriate fit, and style appeal. Students can choose from a huge variety of colors on their Rock N Rags skirts and match them with the perfect tops to make sure they always feel confident and comfortable. For more formal options, Olivaceous dresses are popular and paired with a cute pair of shoes and some exciting accessories, they can make a statement.
To add the perfect finishing touch to your outfit for the day, a cute, comfortable and matching pair of shoes can go a long way. Two of the most popular styles and brands, Adidas Sambas and Golden Goose, started out strong this summer and continued to appear frequently on campus this fall. From a simple black and white sneaker, to a pink platform sneaker, Adidas has them all. Although pricey, Golden Goose, a chic and unique style of shoe, continues to be a favorite, as well. Golden Goose offers a handful of different styles ranging from high tops to low-tops. They provide a huge variety of colors, textures and designs while also providing the option to custom design your own shoe.
