Hailey Kim ’23, Editor in Chief
I came to Charlotte Latin from a public school in sixth grade. I really didn’t like the idea of changing schools and I was quite frankly scared of it because I hated the idea of being new. But coming to this school really opened up a lot of opportunities and I met some new people. As I became more comfortable with the people around me, I started to warm up and felt like I could joke around and use sarcasm without offending anyone. Kids were a bit surprised because they had thought I didn’t have that in me. They also found out that I enjoyed reading. I hated it at first, but when I discovered fantasy and sci-fi through my friends, I started to really enjoy it. The author of the ultimate fantasy books, J.K. Rowling, is my favorite because she is the genius behind the Harry Potter series. I had a friend who read the series with me. She’s my best friend, and her family is also our closest family friend. I remember going to the beach all together and while the sun was setting, we would ride the waves and dig for little mussels on the beach. It’s a happy memory.
